Shooting Events

The FATS (Fast Action Tactical Shooting) Project is a subsidiary of Flying Brass Firearm Services and utilizes a range outside of New York Mills, MN. The FATS Project holds tactical pistol, rifle, and 2-gun matches with no pressure and lots of fun. Anyone is invited to participate in matches. Our goal is to build the shooting community, have fun, and practice the martial are of tactical shooting and self defense. Whether you are an experienced shooter of new to tactical shooting, we encourage you to come to a match.

We also have a shooting simulator that we can schedule with your group that is full of real life shoot/don't shoot scenarios as well as fun or challenging shooting games. This can be set up virtually anywhere and allows shooting practice or fun anytime of the year.

FATS Project

2-Gun Matches are a tactical style shooting match utilizing a pistol and a rifle (most people bring a semi-auto pistol in any caliber and a semi-annual rifle with removable magazines for each of loading/unloading during match stages).

Each match is different from number of stages, shooting distances, movement, shooting positions, etc. This way the shooters of the match are always working on improving their skills.

If you've never ran in a 2-gun match, don't worry. We are accommodating to each person's abilities in a low stress, fun environment. While we do keep scores, there are no prizes for positions. Each person participating in a match that month receives a patch (the more you come, the more patches you can collect).

We run 2-gun matches each month on the 3rd Sunday (if there are changes, it is announced on the FATS Project Facebook page) year round, regardless of the weather. That's right. We shoot in the heat of summer, in the cold of winter, in the dry dusty days, in the rain, in the snow, during daylight, and in the dark. We feel that shooting in all weather and lighting conditions prepares shooters for any real-world encounter they may face.

We don't charge for our matches, we run them on a volunteer basis, however we do appreciate donations to the match to help with the cost of equipment and targets. The more money we can make on matches, the more we can put back into supplies to make each match greater and more interesting.
